Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor's IP address and browser identifier string to help detect spam.

A hash string generated from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to verify if you are using it. You can view the Gravatar privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacyAfter approval of your comment, your profile picture (if you have one) will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the site, we recommend that you avoid uploading images that contain geolocation data (EXIF GPS), as site visitors can download and extract location data from posted images.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This option is for your convenience, so you don't have to re-enter your details each time you write a comment. These cookies last for one year.

When you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will create several cookies to store your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies persist for two days, and screen display choices for a year. If you select "Remember Me," your login will persist for two weeks. When you log out, the login files are automatically deleted.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser containing only the article ID and will be automatically deleted after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). This content behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website directly.

These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking tools, and monitor your interaction with that content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that site.

Who do we share your data with?

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email sent.

Data retention period

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This enables us to automatically recognize and approve future comments without the need for manual moderation.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Site administrators can also see and edit that information.

Your rights over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have previously left comments, you can request to receive a file containing the personal data we hold about you, including the data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except for data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

Where is your data sent?

Visitor comments may be checked using an automated spam detection service.
